Supervision

The supervision I provide will enhance and develop your ethical and professional and/or clinical practice.

If you are a counsellor, I can help you achieve BACP accreditation. If you work in another helping profession, for example social work or personnel management, I can help you with case management, with ethical or professional practice issues and concerns, and to reduce stress and the possibility of burnout.

If you are a psychotherapist I can help you with UKCP registration or re-registration. I have experience of supervising qualified and trainee counsellors and psychotherapists as well as supervisors and trainers. As a result I am familiar with the supervision requirements of a wide range of organisations, registering and accrediting bodies.

What is supervision?

Good therapeutic practice dictates that, however qualified or experienced the therapist, regular supervision of cases should be undertaken. I undertake supervision on a regular basis for all my supervision, research and training work.

I offer supervision to other therapists, supervisors and trainers. The model I use contains a structured approach of contact, contract, key issue identification, parallel process and reduction of harm (ethical considerations). I model the required process and assist the supervisee to identify an increase in developmental direction. I am endorsed to supervise Transactional Analysis psychotherapists, supervisors and trainers.

How much supervision do I need?

This will depend on your caseload and level of qualification. If you are still in training, then your supervision requirement will be laid down in your training handbook. A common ratio is one supervision session for every six client hours. If you are qualified, then you may feel a monthly requirement of 1.5 hours a month is sufficient.

Feel free to contact me to discuss your specific needs.
